Ovi wants to boost your productivity with these apps for your Nokia

This has been a busy week. A lot of news, a lot of work, a lot of keeping up to do! For starters, as you might have seen yesterday, Nokia announced that downloads from Store now top 3 million per day, which is a wonderful milestone. At the same time, it was noted that 92 developers have had their apps and content in Store downloaded more than 1 million times, each! Like I said, there’s a lot going on!
How do you keep up? How do you ensure that your personal productivity remains high throughout the work week. Are there apps that you use to help get your through the day? What apps do you rely on the most? We’d love to hear about your personal must-have app choices.
And while you’re thinking about it, we’d like to share with you a few of the apps that have recently been reviewed over at the Ovi Daily App that are sure to be productivity enhancers, one and all.


Let’s start with SmartSilent, which is a clever app that can do the talking for you, even when you can’t take an incoming call. This app, from JPH-Soft, can send a fully customizable automated SMS to anybody who calls you when your phone’s profile is set to ‘silent’ – makes sense, right? Set up is a snap – it only take a minute or two – and then you can let the app do the work for you. SmartSilent is available in Store for $2.99 (USD), and it works on a broad range of Nokia S60 3.X and 5.0 devices.
                                                    

Next up – and in a similar line of thought – we have CDA, which stands for “call drop alert”. So, unlike SmartSilent which works best when all is quiet, CDA is ready to help out when you can’t hear what is happening on the other end of the line because you’ve been disconnected! It happens to all of us at one time or another: you’re talking on the phone, thinking that the person on the other end can hear you, but really you’ve been cut off, and you’re essentially talking to yourself. Well, no more! With CDA installed (and running silently in the background), you will know immediately when a call has ended – whether by your own doing, or because the connection was lost.
                                                  

The app beeps at you loudly, and then displays a big red warning icon. Happily, CDA from Brazil’s i2 tecnologia, also has one-button access to redial the last call made or received, so you can get right back on the line. CDA is free to download from Store, and works on Nokia Symbian OS, S60 5.0 devices like the Nokia N97 mini.


Third, let’s take a quick look at another app that you can set up once and then leave to do its thing with minimal supervision from you. I’m talking about Rseven, which is an app that you can use to easily back-up all of the data stored on your Nokia Symbian OS, S60 5.0 (touch-enabled) devices. The basic service is free to use (there is a premium version, too), and you can schedule automatic back-ups, which makes it hassle free, too.
